VOTE LOCAL VOTE GREEN

Longford Ward

Margaret Westbrook says: Now is the time to vote green party locally. We need a seat on Trafford Council to more effectively question the way things are done. The Stretford end of the borough, particularly Stretford Town Centre, needs investment and improvement to support and develop local shops and businesses rather than big mega stores. We need local jobs created in home insulation and green industries. We need to protect our local green spaces and not lose public land to build an academy - more

Altrincham Ward

Debbie Leftwich says: The major parties don’t seem to have policies that focus on the needs of local communities, and for me, that’s the advantage of the Green Party. Environmental issues impact on all of us, and the seemingly unstoppable development we have seen in Altrincham over recent years needs to be moderated. The result has been increased pollution, increased congestion and loss of open and green spaces. If elected I would fight hard to limit development on our parkland and green spaces, and to ensure that local people have a safe and pleasant environment they can enjoy. Vote Green on 6th May.

Debbie Leftwich

Ashton upon Mersey Ward

Sara Ahsan says: I am standing for the Green Party as I believe it is the party most concerned about people and our planet. I have children of my own and I want to work to secure a future for them and for all children.  Vote Green on 6th May.

Broadheath Ward

Christine McLaughlin says: Give the Green Party a voice on Trafford Council and we will defend our high streets and neighbourhood centres against the invasion of giant supermarkets. We will work for alternatives to traffic congestion and pollution and lay the foundations of a more sustainable way of life. We can no longer gamble with our planet’s future: climate change must be tackled locally, nationally and globally. Let’s work together to make the transition to sustainable living. Vote Green on 6th May.

Brooklands Ward

Joseph Ryan says: By voting for the Green Party, we have the opportunity to send a message to the established parties that green politics are not something to paint over the same old tired policies, but a chance to call for real change. Only the Green Party wants to make that change. Vote Green on 6th May.

Bowdon Ward # 1

Bridget Green says: All politicians talk about 'sustainability' and 'community' but they rarely champion these ideas in practice. Recently we've seen money available to bail out the banks but little investment in environmental issues. Unfortunately, little seems to have changed in the financial world whereas money invested in renewable energy, public transport and home insulation would build our economy on a more stable base and benefit ordinary people - more

Bowdon Ward # 2

Theresa Graham says: I work as a volunteer, protecting and promoting the green open spaces in Bowdon, which are vital for our physical and mental health. But it is also a place of consumerism, conspicuous spending and waste, and I would like to see people give more thought to the effect their pace of life is having on the environment; not just here, with pollution, congestion and destruction of the countryside, but in the other countries which are being stripped of their resources to fuel our lifestyle. Greens seek fairness for all, and respect for the planet and its people. Vote Green on 6th May.

Bucklow St Martins Ward

Daniel Wadsworth says: I am standing for the Green Party because I believe the Green Party is about community - getting people together, talking, and helping them to be able to help themselves. Vote Green on 6th May.

Clifford Ward

Anne Vivienne Power says: I'm now disabled and need a car or small vehicle, but I want to live in a friendly way with my neighbours, not divided by roaring cars and vans. I want to see Trafford improved with more children walking to school and playing safely in fresh air; safer cycling; better, cheaper public transport and better access to fresh grown food from a local shop, allotment or market. Only the Greens think this way. Vote Green on 6th May.

Davyhulme East Ward

Jennie Wadsworth says: I am standing for the Green Party because I believe theirs are the only policies that make sense and a grass roots party such as the Green Party has the interests of people like myself at heart. Vote Green on 6th May.

Jennie Wadsworth

Davyhulme West  Ward

Joseph Westbrook says: I am proud to be standing for the Green Party because in an age full of consumer excess, greed and growing poverty for the majority of the population, the Greens are the only Party that demand and recognise the need for true unequivocal change. A change that prescribes not a regression to the caveman but to a hugely productive and sustainable society -  more

Joseph Westbrook

Flixton Ward

Paul Syrett says: The Green Party, locally and nationally, is committed to safeguarding the environment as an absolute priority. Flixton is the forgotten ward: public transport has been cut relentlessly and services at Trafford General have been decimated. We have been badly let down by the redevelopment of Urmston precinct, which seems to have been abandoned halfway through - more

Gorse Hill Ward

Philip Martin Leape says: I am standing for the Green Party because they reflect my views on issues I feel are important, not just the environment. They are striving for a fairer society and are looking for cooperation with other countries rather than being involved in unjust and unsustainable conflicts. Vote Green on 6th May.

Hale Barns Ward

Sarah McIlroy says: I am a mother and I am becoming concerned about what kind of life my children will have when they are older. I don't see anything constructive being done by current councillors. The Green Party isn't just about the environment- it is also about the local community- the only party that appears to take those words seriously. Vote Green on 6th May.

Hale Central Ward

Sam Little says: The policies of the Green Party are based on a desire to better connect people to both their natural surroundings and their community, making for a happier, healthier society. By showing what can be achieved at a local level, we can develop a political climate where global environmental issues can be tackled without fear. I joined the Greens to be part of a movement which will become increasingly influential in the coming years, and I am standing in Hale Central to give you the chance to express this sentiment as well. Vote Green on 6th May.

Priory Ward

Emma Handley says: I support the Green Party’s grass roots approach and like the way in which they make politics relevant to our own communities. I think our Council should be doing much more to enable all residents of Trafford to play our part in reducing our environmental impact, and in making our community a better place to live. By the Green Party putting sustainability at the heart of its strategies and policies, the potential is there to influence how our transport is developed, our buildings are designed, and how our Council services are run, in a manner that will improve our communities for the future. Vote Green on 6th May.

Sale Moor Ward

Bridget Battye says: I am a mother of two small boys and like many other people, becoming a parent has made me really consider the future. What I want is a secure future for all children and that means tackling issues like poverty, inequality and climate change in a serious way. The Green Party are the only party offering the policies necessary to secure the future for all our children. Make the change. Vote Green on 6th May.

St Mary's Ward

Zoe Power says: The Green Party stands for fairness and as our tag line says fairness is worth fighting for. As more and more Green councillors and MEP's are elected each year I become even more convinced that The Green Party can deliver real change for a better, fairer future and that this really is worth fighting for. It's time for a change and we are making that change, fighting for a fairer future and fair is worth fighting for. Vote Green on 6th May.

Stretford Ward

Liz O'Neill says: Mainstream politics has had its day. It's time for real change and the Green Party offers just that, with radical, practical solutions on the environment, the economy, education, health and much more. I wouldn't put my name to anything less. Vote Green on 6th May.

Liz O'Neill

Timperley Ward

Jadwiga Leigh says: A lot has changed since our last local election and we are all now proud owners of recycling bins. I do believe people are starting to think in Greener ways which is positive and promising. However, we still have a long way to go and I believe that the only party that can push for more practical changes within local policy is the Green Party. I still worry for the future of my children and will not feel comfortable until our Government embraces climate change effectively. Vote Green on 6th May.

Urmston Ward

Helen Jocys says: I want to see the following : Green bins for the whole of the borough, not for what would appear to be randomly selected areas. Far greater plastic recycling facilities. Some people have no transport, consequently have no alternative but to use their wheelie bins for disposal. More one way systems in the area to enable traffic to proceed more smoothly. Cycle lanes properly segregated by a kerb to dissuade drivers from illegal parking, thereby putting the cyclists in danger - more

Michael Leigh says: Since the last election some good solid foundations have been laid. More can and will be done...let's work together to make the Village Green.  Vote Green on 6th May.
