Debbie Leftwich says: Environmental issues impact on all of us, from the litter on our streets to rising fuel and food costs. Clearly at local level we are not going to be able to influence the US or China, but if elected I would do my utmost to ensure a better local environment. This would include campaigning hard for cheaper public transport, increased and improved recycling of household waste, and cleaner streets. I passionately believe in local community, and that means local development that really benefits local people - more

Marion Sudbury says: For this election I am largely a two issue candidate:
• cycle paths to help us improve our air quality • plastic recycling to reduce the amount of wheely-bin rubbish. Of course there are lots of things we need to do in Trafford for education, health etc and I will support policies which strengthen the NHS and improve our kids’ education. As the Green candidate, though, my priorities are to get some attention focused on improving the environment in which we live. |

Martin Daniel Bate says: Being part of the Green Party holds a variety of meanings for me. I feel that I can actually contribute in making a difference and although I can visibly see climate change, my efforts no matter how small or large, will have a positive and lasting effect.

Barbara Jarkowsi says: The only way to tackle Climate Change is to push it to the top of every agenda. The only party able to do this is the Green Party. They alone have the knowledge, the motivation and the vision. This is why I am joining them in trying to change the way we live before it is too late. We all know we have to do it. So let’s make a start now !

Bridget Mary Green says: I became political after visiting the Green Party website five years ago. The Green Party was the only party to put climate change at the heart of its policy and, whilst the other parties are now waking up to the seriousness of climate change, the Green Party still remains the only one I trust on this issue.
I am standing in Bowdon to enable others to vote Green and with that voice push a Green agenda for Trafford. |

Melanie Bell says: My reasons for standing for the Green Party in Partington are that I believe it to be the only party capable of dealing with the environmental issues now facing us all.By environment I mean anything from transport to farming methods.I am keen to defend Partington as it under threat from development which will be a disaster for both the community and the environment.

Anne Vivienne Power says: As a long time member of the Green party I'm wanting to see much more renewable energy in use, (but not bio-fuel), affordable housing, free school meals for all children, 20 mile limits enforced on more roads, cyclists not 4x4s causing traffic jams, used, safe and enjoyable green spaces, piazzas and walkways, and aviation expansion limited.

Christine Lesley Rawson says: If cycle lanes were improved and there was one on every road, myself and other
pedestrians could avoid being knocked over on the pavement as cyclists would feel
safer riding on the road. This is one of many things that could help change the
local community for the better and make it safer and greener for everyone.

Jennie Gander says: My interest in the Green Party started from growing some of my own veg and helping to organise the local community festival. Margaret Westbrook asked me to join when the party was just beginning. Since then I have had a baby and my commitment to green issues has grown from a concern for his future. I believe that small positive actions by individuals can greatly benefit the community as a whole.

Liz O'Neill says: Every politician says they care about the environment, but The Green Party has practical policies that address the true extent of the crisis facing the world around us. Health, education, housing, transport and every other issue on the political agenda would also benefit from a louder green voice. Locally, I want to see lower speed limits on residential streets, better provision for cyclists and pedestrians and the retention of high quality maternity and children's care at Trafford General Hospital.

Paul Syrett says: The Green Party, locally and nationally, are committed to safeguarding the environment as an absolute priority. The situation regarding recycling has improved but we still need to have access to roadside recycling schemes for cardboard, plastic bottles and tetra packs. There are many cyclists in Flixton and improved provision of cycle lanes would send the right message with regards to reducing carbons emissions. The cutbacks to services at Trafford General Hospital are unacceptable and a backward step - I would like to see these cuts reversed as soon as possible. |

Andrew Gratton says: I am new to the Green Party as I am tired of hearing the good environmental will
of others, but seeing no action or real effort. Locally we can start to make a difference and this can be achieved by taking an interest in what is going on around us. I would like the council to pick up more recycling from our doorsteps and improve and extend cycle lanes to make it safer and greener for everyone.

Sarah McElroy says: I am a mother and I am becoming concerned about what kind of life my children will have when they are older. I don't see anything constructive being done by current councillors. The Green Party isn't just about the environment- it is also about the local community- the only party that appears to take those words seriously. |

Margaret Emily Westbrook says: The Conservatives locally and Labour nationally are significantly failing to address the key issues of our time – namely climate change and the growing divide between rich and poor. The Green Party is one that works from the grass roots. We do deliver and have already raised issues and changed policy - even in our first year. Green councillors across the country have made a real difference in their locality. To do so much more effectively in Trafford we need A NEW VOICE on the council. So use your vote now to help make a real difference.

Emma Handley says: I support the Green Party’s position on sustainability and believe that the Council should set an example to us all by putting sustainability at the heart of its strategies and policies, including how our transport is developed, how buildings are designed, and how Council services are run. I think the Council should be doing much more to help all residents of Trafford to play our part in reducing our environmental impact, and in making our community a better place to live.

I’m not a “politician” but I do care about our community and I believe in working to make it work for everyone. Jadwiga Leigh says: For me the Green Party is the only way. No other party lives up to its 'good'
intentions. My belief is that to have a better community we need to invest in it
locally. To be environmentally friendly we need to start from within the home. I would like to see everyone have a composter, cardboard/ plastic to be collected from our doorstep, cycle lanes on every road and free insulation for all in Trafford. It is not impossible and can be achieved with the right Party.

Helen Elizabeth Jocys says: HELEN JOCYS SAYS "I want to see the following : Green bins for the whole of the borough, not for what would appear to be randomly selected areas. Far greater plastic recycling facilities. Some people have no transport, consequently have no alternative but to use their wheelie bins for disposal. More one way systems in the area to enable traffic to proceed more smoothly. Cycle lanes properly segregated by a kerb to dissuade drivers from illegal parking, thereby putting the cyclists in danger more
