Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) is running a series of consultation events from today 15 July until Saturday 25 July about plans to redevelop 'the cricket ground and its environs'. These plans include a large Tesco. The letter states that they are consulting prior to submitting the planning application:
"We wish to provide the local community with an opportunity to review the emerging proposals and let us know of any comments you might have. You can do that by joining us at any of the following exhibitions that are being held over the next few days.
- Wed 15 July - Firswood Community Centre 1-4 pm
- Thurs 16 July Stretford Leisure Centre 4-7.30 pm
- Monday 20 July Kings Road Primary School 12.30-2.30 pm
- Thursday 23 July Library Suite, Lancashire County Cricket Club 4-7.30 pm
- Saturday 25 July St Ann's Social Club 10-2 pm
Those unable to attend are invite to call 0161 247 7240 or email consult@lccc.co.uk
All feedback received will be considered in the process of preparing the planning application, which will be submitted to Trafford Council in the coming months"
The plan for this redevelopment is to build a 140,000 sq foot supermarket within the scheme. The previous campaign against a Tesco in Stretford related to a store of 89,000 sq feet - so this hopefully gives you an idea of the scale of this new development and the threat it will pose to the Old Trafford and Chorlton District Centres as a whole
We will be sending as many representatives as we can muster to the consultation events. Please join us and make your voice heard.
Please be aware that you can only guarantee your views will reach Trafford MBC if you put it in writing and send it directly to them, via snail or email. LCCC is perfectly entitled to "consider" your feedback without then passing it on to the decision makers in the planning department. Watch this space for details of how to make your opinions heard. |
