Trafford MBC has pulled £67k from their contribution of almost £177k from the Mersey Valley Partnership (MVP). Trafford informed MVP of this reduction in funding on 30th April 2007 – already one month into this financial year !
Such behaviour flies in the face of any commitment to partnership working. It has ensured that there will be a large shortfall in the money available this year as well as redundancies for 2 workers who are employed by Manchester – but on behalf of the Partnership.
This means that the service offered to all in our borough will be stretched, and could mean the beginning of the end for the partnership. Trafford Green Party objects strongly to both the reduction in funding and the way in which the council has behaved.
We have written to the leader of the council and are awaiting a reply. We understand the Labour Group have called a debate in Council on Wednesday 20th June at 7pm.
