Green councillors making an impact in Norwich
Filed: April 12 2008

25th Mar 2008

What we really need is more Green councillors running councils, and more Greens represented in city and town halls across the country to deliver more common sense and practical policies that make a real difference.

Norwich Green Party has today launched an online film on the achievements and campaigns of its Green Councillors. The film covers issues from providing high quality, publicly owned social housing to ensuring school playing fields aren't sold off for private development.

The film looks to offer voters an insight into the party's ongoing campaigns and work within the community, and features Green Councillors highlighting the real results that they are delivering on supporting local shops and businesses, opposing the building of a Tescos convenience store in the city, saving funding for crucial coastal rail links that the Liberal Democrats wanted to cut and successfully opposing the building of a dangerous and polluting incinerator in the area.

Councillor Adrian Ramsay, Co-ordinator of the Green Party Group on Norwich City Council and Parliamentary Candidate for Norwich South, said:

"The film shows how Green Councillors are delivering real change in Norwich, but it also shows why Norwich needs more Green Councillors elected on the 1st May so we can implement more of our Green vision for the city.

"Green Party councillors have made a real impact on social justice and environmental sustainability issues, but there is so much more we could do. What we really need is more Green councillors running councils, and more Greens represented in city and town halls across the country to deliver more common sense and practical policies that make a real difference.

"So please, vote Green on 1st May."
